Revenue and Disaster Management Department of Kancheepuram District clears Yamaha India to resume operations at its factory with safety measures in place
Yamaha Motor India restarts operations at its Kancheepuram plant, 50 percent dealerships, and Chennai Head Office. Safety guidelines with social distancing parameters and hygiene protocols have to be strictly followed before employees resume plant operations. Frequent sanitization activities are being carried out to keep workstations safe. Also, alternate seating arrangements and virtual meetings are encouraged to enhance distancing protocols. Canteens too will have staggered timings to increase the safety of employees. Yamaha is following a step-by-step approach and has asked only critical functions to report initially who can provide their support in the safe and sustainable restart of the manufacturing operations in compliance with the SOPs issued by the Government authorities. Several awareness sessions are to be carried out as well for employees to ensure safety norms are being followed at work and back at home.
All 50 percent of dealerships have also reopened with hygiene and safety measures at showrooms, workshops, and spare parts centres. As these showrooms prepare for customers to arrive, Government guidelines have to be followed for all visitors entering for maximum safety. As the Chennai Head Office also resumes work, Yamaha will emphasize employees to work from home as much as possible. Only the functions whose physical presence is essential are being allowed to report to the office premises. The company is closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation across other factory locations in Surajpur (Uttar Pradesh), Faridabad (Haryana), and other dealerships awaiting Government clearance to resume operations.
