India Yamaha Motor (IYM) Pvt Ltd has launched the 2018 model year of its YZF-R3 fully-faired motorcycle at Rs 3.48 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi, at the on-going Auto Expo. The 2018 Yamaha YZF-R3 is now equipped with dual-channel ABS and Metzeler radial tyres, and will be available at select dealerships. Yamaha said the dual-channel ABS technology will further ensure reliable braking on slippery roads by automatically adjusting the brake fluid pressure. It added that the premium Metzeler radial tyres offer high-safety performance and enhanced grip.
The power plant of the YZF-R3 remains unchanged – a 321 cc, liquid-cooled, in-line two-cylinder, fuel-injected engine. The engine delivers maximum power of about 41 hp at 10,750 rpm, with 29.6 Nm of torque at 9,000 rpm. The motorcycle is claimed to offer a combination of class-leading power with a lightweight body, in addition to a powerful frame delivering good levels of nimbleness enabling an easy and comfortable ride across all terrains.
Motofumi Shitara, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India Group of companies, said success and popularity gained by the YZF-R3 in India is a major achievement by the company. The development team has put in all their engineering skills into developing this new model with dual-channel ABS to provide improved riding experience and more excitement to the customers, he added.
